Dear Hiring Manager,
I am applying for the Junior Photographer position at Sector 17 Studios, which I saw on Instagram. I completed a two-year Diploma in Photography at Chandigarh College of Visual Arts this year with 82%, and I have been shooting paid work alongside the course.
Since 2024 I have completed more than 30 paid jobs, including 12 product shoots for local sellers on Amazon and Instagram and ten portrait sessions. I edit in Lightroom and Photoshop, have delivered more than 2,500 edited images and always send galleries within three days. For product work I learnt to shoot the same angle set for every item, so a seller's catalogue looks consistent from the first product to the fiftieth.
I shoot on a mirrorless body, use strobes and natural light, and back up every card in two places before I format it.
My portfolio is linked below. I can join immediately and would be glad to assist on a studio shoot as a trial.
Sincerely,
Hailey Brookner

Dear Hiring Manager,
I would like to apply for the Senior Wedding Photographer role at Jaipur Heritage Weddings. I have five years of wedding and event photography, with more than 70 weddings shot across Rajasthan and destination venues, and I lead a team of two at Lakeview Wedding Films in Udaipur.
At each wedding I plan the coverage with the couple and the planner, then run the team across rituals, candids and portraits. We deliver 600 to 800 edited images within 14 days, and about 40% of our bookings each year now come from repeat clients or referrals. Palace venues taught me to work fast in very mixed light, from dark courtyards to bright lakeside mandaps.
I started as second photographer at Mewar Studios, where I learnt traditional coverage and album design before moving to candid work.
My portfolio, with three full wedding galleries, is linked below. My notice period is one month, outside the peak season.
Sincerely,
Yash Bhatia
Copy either letter, then change every detail to your own: the company, the job title, your numbers. Pair it with a matching photographer resume. The layout, header and greeting are the same for every job: see how to write a cover letter.

How to open the letter
Name the job, where you saw it and your strongest fact in the first two lines. Two openings that work:
- I have shot 70+ weddings across Rajasthan and deliver 600 to 800 edited images within 14 days; I am applying for your Senior Wedding Photographer role.
- As a photography graduate who has completed 30+ paid product and portrait shoots, I would like to apply for your Junior Photographer position.
What to write in the body
One or two paragraphs that prove you can do the job the advert describes. For a photographer, the body should also:
- Give volume and delivery: shoots or events, images delivered, turnaround time.
- Name your gear, lighting and editing tools, and your backup habit.
How to close the letter
Close with your portfolio link, which galleries to see first, your availability (including weekends and wedding season), and an offer to assist or shoot a trial.
Writing it with no experience
- Build a portfolio of 20 to 30 of your best images in the genre you want.
- Use college, friends' events and small paid jobs, with counts.
- Offer to assist on a shoot as a trial.
Mistakes to avoid
- No portfolio link, or a portfolio mixing every genre.
- Using images you did not shoot.
- No turnaround or delivery details.
How do I write a photographer cover letter with no experience?
Link a focused portfolio, describe college or small paid shoots with counts, name your gear and editing tools, and offer to assist on a trial shoot.
What should a wedding photographer include?
Weddings shot, team size, images and turnaround, repeat and referral share, venues and a link to full galleries.
Is a photography cover letter different for studios and agencies?
Studios want technical and lighting skill; agencies and brands want consistency, brief-following and delivery speed.
Should I attach photos to the letter?
Link a portfolio instead of attaching large files; include three strong thumbnails only if the application form allows.
