What is an ATS score?
Applicant tracking systems (ATS) read your resume file before a recruiter does. They pull out your name and contact details, each job with its dates, your education and your skills, and recruiters then search that data. An ATS score, where a checker shows one, tells you how much of your resume that software can read cleanly; this checker shows the same thing as a pass or a list of warnings. If a part can't be read, it may never be seen.
How this ATS check works
This checker reads your PDF the way that software does, right here in your browser, and checks five things:
- Readability: whether the words can be recovered from the file at all (a scan or an image fails this check).
- Layout: whether the page keeps its reading order, or columns and tables mix it up.
- Sections: whether your resume is split into the sections software expects, with standard headings.
- Contact details: whether your name, phone and email come through as text.
- Dates: whether each job and degree has dates the software can place on a timeline.

What is a good ATS score?
Checkers that show a number use their own scales, so compare numbers from the same checker only. This one gives a clearer answer: no problems found, or each warning with its fix. Passing means your resume can be read, not that it will be shortlisted.
How to check your resume's ATS score, and why there is no number here
People search for an ATS resume score because they want one number to compare before they apply. To check the ATS score of a resume here, upload the PDF and read the result: it is either no problems found or a list of warnings, and each warning names the part of the file software could not read cleanly. We do not turn that into a made-up percentage, because the same resume would get a different score on every other tool. How to improve your ATS score
- Switch to a single-column template.
- Put your phone and email as plain text, not icons.
- Use the standard section names: Summary, Work experience, Education, Skills.
- Write dates as month and year (Jun 2024 – Mar 2026), the same way everywhere.
- Add the skills from the job advert, where they're true, in the advert's own words.
- Export a text PDF, not a scan or a photo.

Naukri and company portals in India
On Naukri, recruiters search candidates by keywords, experience, location and notice period, and many mid-size companies manage applications in Naukri RMS. IT services majors and multinationals run their career portals on Workday, Oracle Taleo or SAP SuccessFactors, which fill the application form from your resume. What is a good ATS score?
Checkers that show an ATS score use their own scales, so a number from one is not comparable with another. This checker gives no number: it says 'No problems found' or lists each warning with its fix.
