Strength in resume: where it goes and how many
The strength in resume line is a short section, usually four to six items, placed after your skills and before the declaration in the Indian fresher format. It is not a place for adjectives such as hardworking or sincere, which every resume repeats. Each strength should be a skill or habit that you can back with something you have done: a project, a result, a responsibility. Write it as the strength, a colon, and the proof in under fifteen words. For freshers this line often does more work than the experience section, because it is the only place to show how you behave at work. If you are building a fresher resume, the fresher resume format shows where the line sits, and resume keywords helps you pick the strengths an ad actually asks for. Choose key strengths that match the job: a data entry role wants accuracy, a sales role wants persistence, a teaching role wants patience and clarity.
Twenty strengths for a resume, with a proof line
These are strengths examples with the sort of proof that makes each believable. Every proof is invented: replace it with something that is true for you, and use only the strengths that fit your target job.

Should you write a weakness in a resume?
Usually no. A resume is a marketing document, and it has no reason to list what you do poorly. Most employers do not ask for a weakness in resume form, and a weakness line you add yourself takes space from your strengths. The exception is when a format, a campus placement form or a company application explicitly asks for strengths and weaknesses. In that case answer honestly, choose a weakness that is real but not central to the job, and add what you are doing about it. Do not write a disguised strength such as “I work too hard”, which readers recognise at once, and do not name a weakness the job depends on. For a clerical role do not write careless with details. Interview answers to the same question work differently and need spoken examples; this page is only about the written line.
Eight weakness examples, with the fix
These are weakness examples that are honest and survivable. The right column is the part that matters: what you are doing about it.
| Weakness | How to write it | The fix you can name |
|---|---|---|
| Nervous about public speaking | Get nervous when presenting to large groups | Joined the college debate club and now present every month |
| Spends too long on details | Tend to over-check my work | Use a fixed checklist and a time limit for each task |
| Hesitant to delegate | Prefer to do important tasks myself | Now split tasks in team projects and review the results |
| Limited experience with a tool | Have used Excel at a basic level | Completed a short advanced Excel course in the last month |
| Difficulty saying no | Take on more than I can manage | Plan the week on Monday and agree deadlines before accepting work |
| Impatience with delays | Get impatient when work stalls | Learned to flag blocks early and follow up politely |
| Sensitive to criticism | Used to take feedback personally | Ask for written feedback now and act on it within a week |
| Limited work experience | As a fresher I have no full-time experience | Built two projects and finished an internship to close the gap |
Two strengths and weaknesses examples
These show the format for a fresher and for someone with experience. The people and figures are invented.
Fresher (B.Com graduate): Nandini Pillai

- Quick learner: learned Tally and GST filing basics in three weeks.
- Teamwork: coordinated a five-member college fest budget team.
- Communication: presented the internship report to a panel of faculty.
Weakness (if the form asks). Nervous about speaking to large groups; now presents in class every week to improve.
Experienced (operations executive): Ishaan Rao
Strengths.
- Process improvement: cut order dispatch time from 48 hours to 30 with a revised checklist.
- People management: supervised 12 staff across two shifts.
- Reporting: built the weekly performance dashboard used by three managers.
