What does a doctor do?

In India most hospital jobs ask for an MBBS degree with a valid registration from the National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council, an internship certificate, and for senior posts an MD, MS or DNB. Clinical skills, emergency handling, accurate records and clear talk with patients and families matter equally.

Doctor resume format and template

  • Put your medical council registration number and state near the top: hospitals verify it before anything else.
  • Keep it one page for interns and residents; two pages for consultants with publications and teaching.
  • Show patient volume and outcomes in numbers: OPD per day, procedures done, units led.

The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

FAQ

Doctor resume questions, answered.

Still unsure? Send us a message — a real person replies.

How do I write a doctor resume as a fresh MBBS graduate?

Lead with your MBBS and internship, list departments rotated and procedures done with numbers, add BLS or ACLS and your NEET-PG score, and keep it to one page.

Should I add my medical council registration number?

Yes. Hospitals and recruiters check it first. Freshers can write provisional registration with the council name.

What skills should a doctor list on a resume?

Clinical examination, emergency management, ECG and imaging reading, procedures you can do independently, ICU care, and the EMR or HIS you have used.

Should a doctor resume list publications?

Yes, if they are in indexed journals or presented at conferences. List title, journal and year briefly, and leave out anything unpublished.

How do a physician CV and a hospital resume differ?

A physician CV is a full record: MBBS, MD, MS or DNB, DM or MCh if any, council registration, publications and presentations. A resume for hospital or clinic jobs is shorter, one or two pages, with posts held, OPD or ward load and procedures. For US jobs the CV also adds residency, board status and state licenses.
