What does a teacher do?
In Indian schools the job follows a board syllabus such as CBSE, ICSE or a state board, involves class-teacher duties, parent meetings, exam invigilation and co-curricular work, and requires a B.Ed and often CTET or a state TET for eligibility. Private schools also look for smart-class and online teaching skills.
Teacher resume format and template
- Put your qualifications (B.Ed, CTET, subject degree) in the first third of the page; schools screen on them.
- Name the board and the classes you taught: "CBSE, classes 9-12" is what principals scan for.
- Use results you can stand behind: class averages, board pass rate, students helped, events organised.
The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

Education and certifications
- B.Ed is required for TGT and PGT posts; for primary classes 1-5 the qualification is D.El.Ed (Supreme Court, Devesh Sharma v. Union of India, 2023). Write the university, year and percentage.
- CTET or state TET (Paper I for classes 1-5, Paper II for 6-8): write the paper and year cleared.

Applying for teacher jobs in India
- Write the board (CBSE, ICSE, state) and the class range with each school you worked at.
- Add a declaration with place and date; many private and government school applications still expect it.
- State your notice period, since schools often need two months or the end of the session.
- Add your TET or CTET roll number and year if applying for government or aided school posts.
What should a resume for a teacher job include?
Your qualifications (degree, B.Ed, CTET or TET), subjects and classes taught, board experience, results such as class averages, and skills like lesson planning, assessment and classroom management.
How do I write a teacher resume as a fresher?
Lead with your education, B.Ed and TET, then teaching practice or tutoring with real numbers: classes, students, improvement in marks. Add digital tools you can use in class.
Is CTET important on a teacher resume?
Yes. CTET or a state TET is required for many CBSE and government school posts, so place it beside your B.Ed with the paper and year.
Do I need a declaration on a teacher resume in India?
Schools and government applications often expect one with place and date. Add it at the end of the page.
How do I show results without board exam marks?
Use class averages, improvement in unit tests, attendance, students helped through remedial classes, or competitions and events you organised.
What changes for a first year teacher resume, an ESL teaching resume or a daycare teacher resume?
A first year teacher resume leads with B.Ed internship or practice-teaching hours, CTET or TET and classroom results. An ESL teaching resume names the proficiency levels, TESOL or TEFL certificate and learner outcomes. A daycare teacher resume names the age group, class size, safety training and daily routines you ran.
What do teaching resume examples show for preschool or assistant teacher positions?
Short, specific lines: class size, age group, lesson planning, parent communication and any assessment or behaviour system you used. Preschool teacher resume examples add an NTT or ECCEd diploma; assistant teacher resume examples show support tasks such as small groups, reading help and classroom set-up. Use the title the posting uses.
