UX Designer Resume Examples & Format
A UX designer works out how a product should behave so people can use it without effort: researching users, mapping journeys, sketching flows and wireframes, building prototypes, testing them with real people and handing finished designs to developers. A UX designer resume should prove skills such as figma, user research and interviews, and wireframing and prototyping with numbers from your own work. Below are three samples, entry-level to senior, with summaries, bullets and skills.

What does a UX designer do?
In the US the job sits closest to the digital interface designer occupation, which develops website and app layouts with a focus on usability (BLS). UX designers work in tech companies, agencies, banks, retailers and consultancies. A UX designer resume should link a portfolio and show measured results for each project.
UX Designer duties to put on a resume
- Design layouts and interfaces for websites and apps with a focus on usability.
- Identify problems found in testing or customer feedback and correct them or pass them to the right team.
- Run tests on the site or product after each revision.
- Work with front-end and back-end developers to complete the full scope of a project.
- Develop visual concepts and prototypes, and conduct user research.
- Meet clients or managers to discuss the needs, design and functionality of a site.
Best resume format for a UX designer
- Put a portfolio link at the very top, where a recruiter sees it first.
- For every project, state the problem, your role and a measured result.
- Keep the resume clean and single column; design skill shows in restraint, not decoration.
The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

- O*NET lists a bachelor's degree for most positions in web and digital interface design. List your degree, bootcamp or certificate with the year, and check each job posting for what it asks.
- Accessibility or research courses (WCAG, usability testing) are useful for senior roles: list them with the year.

Is a portfolio more important than the resume?
For UX roles both matter, but recruiters usually open the portfolio first. The resume must be short, scannable and link to it.
How do I show results on a UX designer resume?
Use task completion, conversion, drop-off, support tickets or time on task before and after your work, with the sample size if you have it.
How does a UX researcher resume differ from a UX designer resume?
A UX designer resume leads with the design process and a portfolio link: flows, prototypes and measured outcomes such as task success or conversion. A UX researcher resume leads with studies run, methods, participants and the decisions they changed. Either one should give each project a result, not just a list of tools.
