What goes on a student resume in the Philippines, in order
If you are still enrolled, your education is your strongest section and goes near the top, directly below a two-line objective. After that put anything that works like experience, then your skills. A graduate with a diploma in hand follows the fresh graduate format; this page is for the student who is applying before graduation, whether for a part-time job, a summer job, a working scholarship or an OJT place.
- Header: full name, mobile number, a plain email address, your city; a 2x2 photo only if the employer asks.
- Objective: the objective in a resume for students names the kind of work you want, your course and year, and your availability, in two lines.
- Education: course, school, year level or expected graduation, and honors such as Dean's Lister. See the educational background page for how each level is written.
- OJT, work immersion or work experience: where, what you did, how long, and one result.
- Organizations and activities: your role, not just membership.
- Skills and trainings: software, languages, any short course or TESDA certificate.
Keep it to one page; the resume format for OJT students is the same page, with the OJT hours and tasks set out like a job. Employers who hire students know you have little history, so they look for signs you show up, finish things and can learn. Write the expected graduation date plainly (Expected graduation: April 2027) and give your GWA only if it is strong or the employer asks for it.
Student resume examples: a working student and an OJT applicant

Skills in a resume for students
Skills in a resume for students should be specific and checkable. Instead of “computer literate”, write the programs you can use and what you did in them: Microsoft Excel: formulas, pivot tables, monthly budget tracker. List languages with your level: English and Filipino fluent, Cebuano or Ilocano native. For skills about how you work, such as reliability or teamwork, attach a fact: “never absent in a year of Saturday shifts” says more than “responsible”.
Resume ideas for students with no paid work: a TESDA national certificate, a short online course, a competition or your thesis can fill the section. The page on skills to put on a resume lists ideas by field, and an application letter for a student goes with the resume when a school or employer asks for a letter.
Curriculum vitae for students: is it different from a resume?
In the Philippines the two words are used for the same one-page document in most job postings. A curriculum vitae sample for students looks the same as a resume sample for students; the layout does not change, and employers use whichever word they like. A longer CV with publications and research only matters for academic or graduate school applications. If a posting asks for a curriculum vitae, send the one-page resume above, and if it asks for a “PDS” for a government post, use the form, as the Philippines resume format guide explains.
Mistakes students make
- Listing every seminar and every school activity since first year. Keep the few that relate to the job.
- An email like “cutiegirl2003@...”. Make a plain name-based address.
- An objective that says “to gain experience in a reputable company”. Say the job and your availability.
- Leaving out your expected graduation date, which is what an employer looks for first.
- Copying a template with a long personal-data block of height, weight and religion that the employer did not ask for.
- Sending the same resume for a call center, a bank and a school. Change the objective and the top three skills each time.
