Resume format and a beginner resume sample (Philippines)

A Philippine resume is one to two pages, reverse-chronological, often with a 2x2 photo if the employer asks for one. Since RA 10911, employers can't require your age or birth date, so leave them off unless a form asks. BPO and multinational employers expect a lean international resume; some local employers still ask for a biodata.

Resume or biodata?

A resume focuses on your work, skills and education; BPOs, multinationals and most online applications expect one. A biodata adds personal details (civil status, religion, height, parents) and is still asked for by some local employers, schools and agencies. See the Philippine biodata format.

Resumes for BPO and call-centre jobs

  • Name the account type: voice or non-voice, inbound or outbound, and the market you served.
  • Give metrics: CSAT, AHT, quality scores, first-call resolution, attendance.
  • Show English level honestly and any versant or language test result the employer uses.
  • For leads and supervisors: team size, coaching, nesting and training numbers.

A beginner resume sample for the Philippines

If you have never held a job, put education first, then OJT or internship, school projects, organizations and skills. Keep a short objective that names the role, and leave out hobbies. The fresh graduate resume format shows a full sample, and the application letter for a student covers scholarship and OJT letters. For the experience lines, see work experience on a resume; photos are covered in resume with photo.

Resume template and CV sample for job applications

Use a plain one-column resume template for the Philippines: name and contact at the top, clear section headings, no tables or graphics that confuse applicant tracking systems. Many Philippine employers say “CV” and mean this same resume, so one template covers both. Pick a template and build yours.

Section by section

  1. Contact: full name, mobile (+63), email, city. No full street address.
  2. Objective or summary: two or three lines naming the role you want.
  3. Work experience: most recent first, with results, not duties.
  4. Education: degree, school, year and honors (Cum Laude, Dean's lister).
  5. Skills, trainings and certifications: TESDA NC certificates, civil service eligibility, licences (CPA, RN, LPT).

Government jobs and licences

For government posts, list your civil service eligibility and use the office's Personal Data Sheet (CS Form No. 212, Revised 2025) when it's required: it replaces a resume there. For licensed professions, put your PRC licence type and number only when the job requires it.

Common mistakes

  • Three pages of seminars attended. Keep the trainings that matter for the job.
  • An informal photo or a selfie. Use a 2x2 formal photo with a plain background.
  • A generic objective (“to be part of a dynamic company”).
  • Personal details the employer didn't ask for.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is the best resume format in the Philippines?

Reverse-chronological, one page for fresh graduates and two with experience, with a 2x2 photo for most local employers, and contact, objective or summary, experience, education and skills.

Do I need to put my age or birthday on my resume?

No. The Anti-Age Discrimination in Employment Act (RA 10911) bars employers from requiring your age or birth date in an application. Add them only if a form specifically asks and you're comfortable.

Is a 2x2 photo required?

Many local employers and BPOs expect one; multinationals often don't. If you add one, use a recent formal 2x2 photo with a plain background.

Should I write references on my resume?

"Available upon request" is enough. Prepare two or three names, positions and numbers for the interview.

What's the difference between a resume and a CV in the Philippines?

Many employers use the two words for the same thing. A CV is longer only in academic and research applications.

Where can I find a resume template for the Philippines?

Any CVEmber template works: pick a plain one-column layout, add a 2x2 photo if the employer asks for one, and keep it to one or two pages.

Should I send PDF or Word?

PDF, unless the job post asks for Word. Name the file with your full name.
