Dear Hiring Manager,
I am applying for the Junior Site Engineer position at Vainganga Infra Projects, which I saw on Naukri. I completed my B.E. in Civil Engineering at Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University this year, after a diploma from MSBTE, so I have spent six years learning construction and the last two months doing it on site.
During my site training at Vidarbha Buildcon I worked on a 14-storey residential tower. I checked rebar and shuttering before six slab pours, recorded 40 concrete cube test results and prepared the daily progress report for the project manager. On one pour I noticed cover blocks missing along a beam edge and had them fixed before concreting, which the site in-charge later used as an example in a toolbox talk.
For my final-year project our team of four designed a low-cost G+2 house in STAAD.Pro and AutoCAD, with a full bill of quantities. I am comfortable with levelling and total station work and have read IS 456 closely.
I can join immediately and am ready to work at any of your project sites.
Sincerely,
Manoj Yadav

Dear Hiring Manager,
I would like to apply for the Senior Site Engineer role on your Mangaluru residential project. For four years I have executed residential and commercial buildings on the coast of Karnataka, and I currently run two 10-storey towers with 120 flats for Coastal Constructions.
I supervise about 60 workers and four subcontractors and prepare monthly RA bills worth around ₹2.8 crore. By checking bar-bending schedules against the drawings before cutting and reusing offcuts for stirrups, we have held steel wastage at 2.5% against a 4% norm. We finished one tower three weeks ahead of schedule without adding labour.
Before this I was a junior engineer at Shetty Infra Builders in Udupi, where I measured and billed 15 works orders and checked more than 200 concrete pours with complete test records. I schedule in Primavera and prepare quantities in Excel.
Your project is at the same scale and on the same soil conditions I work with every day. My notice period is 30 days.
Sincerely,
Pallavi Shetty
Copy either letter, then change every detail to your own: the company, the job title, your numbers. Pair it with a matching civil engineer resume. The layout, header and greeting are the same for every job: see how to write a cover letter.

How to open the letter
Name the job, where you saw it and your strongest fact in the first two lines. Two openings that work:
- I am executing two 10-storey towers with 120 flats and held steel wastage at 2.5% against a 4% norm; I am applying for your Senior Site Engineer role.
- As a civil engineering graduate who checked rebar and shuttering on six slab pours during site training, I would like to apply for your Junior Site Engineer opening.
What to write in the body
One or two paragraphs that prove you can do the job the advert describes. For a civil engineer, the body should also:
- Give site numbers: workers supervised, bills prepared, wastage, pours checked, days ahead or behind.
- Name the codes and tools you use: IS 456, IRC, MORTH, AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, Primavera.
How to close the letter
Close by confirming you can work at their site location and join on their timeline, and give your notice period. Construction managers value a direct, practical tone.
Writing it with no experience
- Lead with your degree, diploma and site training: project type, what you checked, test records kept.
- Describe your final-year design project with the software and the bill of quantities.
- Say you are ready to relocate to project sites and work long site days.
Mistakes to avoid
- Listing software without the project you used it on.
- Leaving out the type of civil work (buildings, roads, bridges, water) you want or have done.
- Not mentioning safety, when every site manager checks for it.
How do I write a civil engineer cover letter as a fresher?
Give your degree and site training, what you checked and recorded on site, your final-year project, the codes and software you know, and your willingness to relocate.
What should an experienced civil engineer write?
The projects you executed with size and value, workers and contractors managed, billing, quality and wastage numbers, schedule results and your tools.
Is a civil engineer application letter the same as a cover letter?
Yes. PSUs and government departments may ask for a formal application letter with a subject line; private firms usually call it a cover letter.
Should I mention my GATE score?
Yes, for PSU and government roles, and if it is strong. Write the year and score.
