What are cashier duties and responsibilities for a resume?
Scanning purchases, taking cash, card and mobile payments, giving change and receipts, processing returns and exchanges, balancing the drawer and answering customer questions. Turn each into a line with a number, such as customers per shift or variance.
Should I put my cash handling accuracy on my resume?
Yes. A line such as "drawer variance under $2 a month over 18 months" is one of the strongest things a cashier can show, because accuracy is what managers worry about most.
Do cashiers need a certification?
No license or certification is required. BLS says cashiers are trained on the job, often for a few weeks. List a food handler or alcohol-seller card only if the job asks for it and you hold one.
What should a cashier resume say about my duties?
Cover scanning, taking cash, card and mobile payments, giving change, processing returns and balancing the drawer. In a resume for cashier jobs, turn each into a line with a number: customers a shift, drawer variance, transactions an hour. Add the POS systems you know.
