IT Resume Examples
An IT specialist keeps a company's whole technology set-up working: laptops and desktops, user accounts in Active Directory or Microsoft 365, email, Wi-Fi and firewalls, backups, printers, software licenses and the vendors who supply them. An IT specialist resume should prove skills such as windows 10 and 11, Windows Server, active Directory and Group Policy, and Microsoft 365 and Entra ID with numbers from your own work. Below are three samples, entry-level to senior, with summaries, bullets and skills.

What does an IT specialist do?
In a mid-sized US company with no big IT department, one or two specialists do all of it, from onboarding 20 new hires to restoring a file server after a power failure, and from patching laptops to renewing the internet circuit. In an IT services company the title is used for a more senior support or infrastructure role. This page differs from the IT support resume, which is about tickets and helpdesk speed, and from the system administrator resume, which is deep server work: an IT specialist resume should show breadth, the number of users and devices you look after, uptime, security basics and the tools you know. The three samples below are technical resume examples at entry level, after five years, and for India.
IT Specialist resume format and template
- Give user count, device count and sites; they tell a recruiter your scale at once.
- List tools by category (directory, email, network, backup) so the resume is easy to scan.
- Keep it to one page below 8 years, two after that.
The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

Applying for IT specialist jobs in India
- State your notice period; IT teams in mid-sized companies often need a handover of 30 to 60 days.

What is a good IT objective for a resume?
Two lines that name the role and your proof: "Information technology graduate with CompTIA A+ and an internship supporting 70 users, looking for a junior IT specialist role." Use an objective only when you have little experience; after a year or two on the job, switch to a summary with users, devices and uptime.
Which IT skills should a resume list?
Group them so a hiring manager can scan them: directory (Active Directory, Entra ID), email and productivity (Microsoft 365), networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS), backup and restore, patching and security basics. Then show two or three of them in your experience lines with a number, such as mailboxes migrated or uptime held.
What IT resume format and template work best?
A reverse-chronological format on a plain one-column template: summary, experience, certifications, education and skills. Keep it to one page under about 8 years of experience. Skip tables and graphics: plain text is easier to read for people and for screening software alike.
How is an IT professional resume different from a technical resume?
A technical resume is any resume for a hands-on technical job, from engineering to lab work. An IT professional resume is the IT version: it shows the users, devices and systems you look after, the tools you run them with, and results such as uptime, tickets closed or mailboxes moved.
