SQL Developer Resume Examples & Format

A SQL developer designs and writes the database code behind applications and reports: tables and indexes, stored procedures, functions, views and ETL jobs in SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, MySQL or PostgreSQL. An SQL developer resume should prove skills such as T-SQL or PL/SQL, stored procedures, functions and triggers, and query tuning and execution plans with numbers from your own work. Below are three samples, entry-level to senior, with summaries, bullets and skills.

FAQ

SQL Developer resume questions, answered.

Still unsure? Send us a message — a real person replies.

What should a resume for a SQL developer show?

The database platform and version, the code you wrote (procedures, packages, ETL), performance numbers such as query or batch time, data scale in rows, and release support. List ETL and reporting tools on a separate line so the SQL skills stay easy to scan.

What is the difference between a SQL developer and a DBA resume?

A SQL developer writes and tunes database code, while a DBA installs, secures, backs up and runs the database servers. Show which you owned, and keep any DBA tasks you shared in a short line so a hiring manager can place you correctly.

Should a PL/SQL developer mention Unix and schedulers?

Yes. Many Oracle projects use shell scripts and schedulers such as Control-M, and recruiters search for those words. Add them next to a result, for example a batch window you cut, so the tool names read as work you did.
