Student resume format

In India, a student resume is one page for an internship, a part-time job or a campus role. With little or no work experience, lead with your course and marks, then projects, part-time work, college roles and skills. Say when you are available, because internships run on dates.

What to put on a student resume with no experience

  • Course projects with what you found or built, and one number.
  • Part-time and family-business work: counter sales, bookkeeping, tuition, delivery, event work.
  • College roles: society or club positions, fest organising, class representative, NSS or NCC.
  • Courses and certificates that fit the role: NPTEL, Google, Tally, a language course.
  • Competitions: quizzes, case studies, hackathons, sports at district level or above.

For an internship application

Name the internship in your objective, match your skills line to the posting, and put your dates of availability near the top. Internshala and company forms ask for these separately, but a recruiter reading your PDF should see them too.

School students (Class XI and XII)

For a first part-time job, volunteering or a summer programme, the same one-page format works: your school, board and latest marks, then activities, any work, and skills. Keep it to what you can talk about.

When you graduate

Move to the fresher resume format: the same layout with your final CGPA, internships and a declaration if the employer expects one.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

How do I make a resume as a student?

One page: contact, a two-line objective, education with marks so far, then projects, part-time work, college roles, skills and achievements, with your dates of availability.

What should a student with no experience put on a resume?

Course projects, part-time or family-business work, college society roles, volunteering, certificates and competitions. Give each one a result.

Should a student resume have an objective?

Yes, a short one naming the internship or job you want and one thing you bring. It tells the recruiter what you are applying for.

Can a student resume be two pages?

No. Keep it to one page; cut school activities before anything from college.
