Dear Hiring Manager,
I am applying for the job of Assistant Mason with your company on the new housing project in Danapur, which I heard about from a site supervisor. I have worked on residential building sites in Patna for two years, first as a helper and now assisting two masons.
Every day I mix mortar to the mason's ratio, carry bricks and material to the floor, and lay 150 to 200 bricks a day under supervision. I set up and check the scaffolding each morning and clean it at the end of the day. In two years I have had no safety incident, because I always wear my helmet, shoes and harness and I do not climb unchecked scaffolding.
I have completed a site safety induction and the Assistant Mason course from the Construction Skill Development Council.
I can start immediately and I am ready to work in any state. I am happy to show my work on site for a day before you decide.
Sincerely,
Luis Ramirez

Dear Hiring Manager,
I would like to apply for the Foreman (RCC and finishing) position on your project in Dubai, advertised through your recruitment agent in Lucknow. I have twelve years in construction, including five years as a foreman with a building contractor in Dubai.
In Dubai I led a gang of up to 30 workers on RCC and block work for two residential towers. I planned each day with the site engineer, made sure materials were ready before the gang started, and gave a short safety talk every morning. Our floors were delivered on schedule throughout the project, and in five years there was no lost-time injury in my gang. Before Dubai I worked for seven years as a mason and charge hand in Lucknow and Delhi on masonry, plastering and tiling.
I can read structural and finishing drawings, and I speak Hindi and basic Arabic. My passport is valid until 2031 and I have UAE site safety and working-at-height training.
I am available to travel as soon as the visa is ready, and I am happy to take a trade test.
Sincerely,
Derrick Coleman
Copy either letter, then change every detail to your own: the company, the job title, your numbers. Pair it with a matching construction worker resume. The layout, header and greeting are the same for every job: see how to write a cover letter.

How to open the letter
Name the job, where you saw it and your strongest fact in the first two lines. Two openings that work:
- I led gangs of up to 30 on RCC and block work in Dubai for five years with no lost-time injury, and I am applying for your Foreman position.
- I lay 150–200 bricks a day on residential sites with a clean safety record, and I would like to work as an Assistant Mason on your project.
What to write in the body
One or two paragraphs that prove you can do the job the advert describes. For a construction worker, the body should also:
- Give one number: bricks a day, floors, gang size.
- Show safety habits and training.
How to close the letter
Contractors and agencies hire on a trade test or a day's work. Offer one, say when you can start and where you can work, and add passport validity for overseas jobs. Keep the letter short and plain.
Writing it with no experience
- Mention any site, farm or labour work and your physical readiness.
- Show you know safety basics and will follow them.
- Say you can start quickly and travel.
Mistakes to avoid
- Not naming your trade.
- Forgetting passport details for Gulf jobs.
- Long letters; keep it short.
