FAQ

Your questions, answered.

Still unsure? Send us a message — a real person replies.

How do I write a junior art director resume?

Lead with your portfolio and two or three campaigns you art-directed, even small ones, with the brand, channel and a result. Show the copywriter partnership and any shoots you directed. Design jobs that led to art direction count as experience.

What does a senior art director resume need that a junior one does not?

Leadership and business results. Show the team you lead, pitches won and their value, brand systems you built, and how you review and approve work. It should read as someone who sets direction, not only someone who designs.

Should an art director resume be designed or plain?

Keep the resume clean and readable, with a simple layout that applicant tracking systems can parse, and let the portfolio show your design skill. A good grid, strong type and one accent color are enough.

Is an art director CV in the UK different from a resume?

Mostly in name. In the UK the same document is called a CV. Both lead with the portfolio link and show brands, channels and results; a US version is usually kept to one page.
