Scholarship Resume Examples & Format
A scholarship resume is a one-page record of your grades, activities, leadership, service, work and awards that a scholarship committee reads next to your essay and application form, so it should show in numbers and short lines why you fit the award, whether that is academic merit, financial need, a field of study, a community or a type of service. A scholarship resume should prove skills such as academic writing, data collection and analysis, and public speaking with numbers from your own work. Below are three samples, high school senior to graduate student, with summaries, bullets and skills.

Scholarship resume format and template
- A scholarship resume template should fit one page: education, leadership, service, work and awards in that order, adjusted to the award.
- Match your list to what the scholarship rewards. For a service award, put service first; for a merit award, put grades and honors first.
- Give numbers: hours, members led, dollars raised, hours worked a week while studying. Every line should say what you did and how much.
- Save the document as a PDF named with your name and the scholarship, such as Olivia-Thornbury-Scholarship-Resume.pdf.
The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

Education and certifications
- Put your school, graduation date and GPA first. Add class rank, test scores and honors only where they help and the award does not leave them out.
- If the scholarship is need-based or for a group, such as first-generation students, say so once under Education or Activities, in a plain line, and keep the details for the application form.
- Check the award's rules: some give a page limit, a required heading or a list of items to include. Follow those before any template.
Do I need a resume for a scholarship application?
Often it is optional or requested, so check the instructions on the award page. A resume gives the committee your activities, service and work in one view, and it is useful even where the form asks for the same items in boxes.
What should a high school senior put on a scholarship resume?
Put your GPA and class rank, honors, leadership roles, volunteer hours, jobs and awards, with numbers. Start with education and put the activity type the scholarship rewards next, such as service or leadership. Keep the whole thing to one page.
How is a scholarship resume different from a job resume?
It centers on grades, activities, service, leadership and awards instead of paid work history, and it speaks to the award's purpose. Keep it to one page and add a job only to show responsibility or the hours you work while studying.
