Dear Hiring Manager,
I am applying for the post of Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering at Malnad Institute of Technology, advertised in September. I completed my PhD at the University of Mysore this year, I qualified UGC-NET in 2021, and I have taught lab courses throughout my doctoral work.
My thesis developed low-cost methods to detect crop diseases from ordinary phone photographs, so that farmers without lab access could get an early warning. The work produced six papers in Scopus-indexed journals and conferences and an Indian patent application for a leaf-imaging method. I review for two journals and I would like to continue this research with undergraduate project teams, who are often the best testers of practical ideas.
As a teaching assistant I took four lab courses in data structures, Python and machine learning for about 240 students, set and evaluated internal assessments, and received an average feedback score of 4.5 out of 5. I plan courses around outcomes and use Moodle for assignments and quizzes.
I would be glad to teach machine learning, data structures or Python, and to help build your AI laboratory. I am available from the January 2027 semester and can give a demonstration lecture on any topic you choose.
Sincerely,
Dr Aisha Rahman

Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to apply for the post of Professor in Mechanical Engineering at Bharathi Institute of Technology. I am an associate professor with twelve years at Kongu Nadu College of Engineering in Coimbatore, where I teach manufacturing and design and lead research in additive manufacturing.
Over the last five years I have won ₹1.8 crore in grants from DST and SERB, which funded an additive manufacturing laboratory that now runs projects with local pump and textile machinery firms. I have published 34 peer-reviewed papers (h-index 14) and guided three PhD scholars to completion, with two more in progress. I also led our department's NBA accreditation, which was granted for six years, and set up an industry project cell that places about 40 students a year on live projects.
I teach around 180 students a year and redesigned our manufacturing processes course around outcome-based education, with a mini-project in every unit.
Your institute's plan for a centre of excellence in advanced manufacturing matches my research and industry links closely. I would welcome the opportunity to present my research and teaching plan to the selection committee.
Sincerely,
Dr Thomas Whitfield
