Cook Resume Examples & Format

A cook prepares food to a kitchen's standard: washing and cutting ingredients, seasoning and cooking dishes on a station such as the grill, fryer or sauté line, portioning and plating, rotating stock and keeping the work area clean for safe food handling. A cook resume should prove skills such as knife skills and prep, grill and sauté, and fryer and flat-top with numbers from your own work. • Season and cook food according to recipes, checking that it reaches the correct temperature.
  • Weigh, measure and mix ingredients, and wash, peel and cut fruits and vegetables.

  • Estimate food use and help requisition supplies.

Still unsure? Send us a message — a real person replies.

What skills should a cook list on a resume?

List the hard skills the job posting names, such as grill, sauté, prep, portion control and food safety, plus soft skills like speed, cleanliness and teamwork. Put the station skills first and back each with a number.

Is a prep cook resume different from a cook resume?

A prep cook resume stresses prep volume, knife skills and sanitation; a line cook resume stresses stations, covers and ticket times. Use the version that matches the job posting and keep the format the same.
