Sorority Resume Examples & Format

A sorority resume is a one-page summary of your school record, activities, leadership, community service and work that you hand in or upload when a campus asks for one during sorority recruitment. A sorority resume should prove skills such as event planning, budgeting and fundraising, and public speaking with numbers from your own work. Below are three samples, first-year to third-year, with summaries, bullets and skills.

What does a sorority do?

Some campuses and chapters do this and many do not. Read your campus Panhellenic recruitment guide before you write anything, and follow its rules on what you may submit, how long it can be and whether it is allowed at all.

Sorority resume format and template

  • Use a plain sorority resume template of one page, with your name and contact line at the top and a clear section for each type of activity.
  • Lead with education, then leadership, community service and work, ordered by what you spent the most time on.
  • Write hours and numbers: 140 service hours, 12 players, $2,300 raised. They show commitment better than adjectives.
  • Check whether your recruitment process allows a photo or a social media handle, and leave both off unless it asks for them.

The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

FAQ

Sorority resume questions, answered.

Still unsure? Send us a message — a real person replies.

Do I need a resume to join a sorority?

Not always. Whether you submit one depends on your campus Panhellenic council and the chapters recruiting there. Read the recruitment guide your campus publishes, and prepare a resume so you can use it if you are asked.

What do I put on a sorority resume if I have no leadership experience?

Use service hours, a steady job, tutoring, family responsibilities, a sport or a hobby you stuck with. Give the hours and the results. A year of weekly reading sessions or a part-time job says more than a title you never held.

How long should a sorority recruitment resume be?

One page. Put education at the top, then leadership, community service, work and skills. If your campus sets its own length or format, follow that instead of any template, and ask the recruitment office if the rule is unclear.
