Dear Hiring Manager,

I am applying for the Marketing Executive role at Vidarbha Dairy Products, which I saw on Naukri. I completed my MBA in Marketing at Symbiosis this year, and my summer project was a full campaign for a regional food brand.

At Orange Belt Foods in Nagpur I planned and ran a six-week Instagram and WhatsApp campaign that added 3,200 followers and 410 leads, many of them from small shops asking for stock. I also surveyed 220 customers about a packaging change and found that most wanted a resealable pouch more than a new design; the brand has since tested the pouch in two cities. Every Friday I sent the marketing head a one-page Excel report.

I am comfortable with Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager and GA4, and I like work where the plan is judged by what sells, not by how it looks in a deck.

I can join immediately and would be happy to share my campaign report at interview.

Sincerely,
Tanvi Deshmukh

Dear Hiring Manager,

I would like to apply for the Marketing Manager role at Sattva Home Care. For five years I have marketed D2C consumer brands, and I currently run marketing at Nirvana Naturals in Gurugram with a ₹1.2 crore annual budget and a team of four.

I own paid, email and influencer marketing. By rebuilding our Google and Meta campaigns around product-level margins rather than one blended target, I cut cost per lead by 34%; combined with a Klaviyo email programme for repeat buyers, monthly online revenue has grown from ₹40 lakh to ₹72 lakh. I agree targets with sales every quarter so our leads are measured on revenue, not volume.

Before Nirvana I was assistant marketing manager at Kisan Kart, where I ran regional campaigns and managed two agencies.

Your plan to launch on quick-commerce is the channel shift I would most like to lead next. My notice period is 60 days.

Sincerely,
Rahul Chawla

Copy either letter, then change every detail to your own: the company, the job title, your numbers. Pair it with a matching marketing manager resume and the skills marketing manager job adverts ask for. The layout, header and greeting are the same for every job: see how to write a cover letter.

How to open the letter

Name the job, where you saw it and your strongest fact in the first two lines. Two openings that work:

  • I grew a D2C brand's monthly online revenue from ₹40 lakh to ₹72 lakh on a ₹1.2 crore budget, and I am applying for your Marketing Manager role.
  • As an MBA (Marketing) graduate whose summer campaign added 3,200 followers and 410 leads for a food brand, I would like to apply for your Marketing Executive role.

What to write in the body

One or two paragraphs that prove you can do the job the advert describes. For a marketing manager, the body should also:

  • Show business results: revenue, pipeline, cost per lead, retention, market share.
  • Explain how you work with sales, product and agencies.

How to close the letter

Close by naming one opportunity you see for their brand, briefly and specifically, and your notice period. A marketing manager's letter should show the same clarity you would bring to a campaign brief.

Writing it with no experience

  • Apply for executive or assistant roles; show an MBA project or internship with campaign numbers.
  • Include a customer survey or market research result.
  • Name the tools you used and the report you sent.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Only brand-awareness claims without revenue or leads.
  • Listing channels without budget or results.
  • Buzzwords in place of one clear example.
