Bar Manager Resume Examples & Format
A bar manager runs the bar side of a restaurant, hotel, club or standalone bar: hiring and scheduling bartenders, ordering and counting stock, setting the drink menu and prices, keeping the bar within its pour-cost and labor targets, and making sure staff follow the liquor license and responsible-service rules. A bar manager resume should prove skills such as beverage costing and pour cost, inventory and ordering, and menu development and pricing with numbers from your own work. What does a bar manager do?
Most bar managers started behind the bar, so the resume has to show the step up from pouring drinks to running the numbers. A bar manager resume should lead with revenue, pour cost, inventory accuracy and team size, and name the licenses and alcohol-service training you hold.
Bar Manager duties to put on a resume
- Hire, train, schedule and coach bartenders, barbacks and bar support staff.
- Order beverages, receive deliveries and count inventory against the system.
- Set drink menus and prices, and track pour cost, sales and labor against targets.
- Enforce the liquor license, ID checks and responsible alcohol service rules.
- Handle cash, deposits and end-of-night reports.
- Deal with guest issues, vendors, health inspections and repairs.
Bar Manager resume format and template
- Open with the size of the bar: seats, annual sales, team size and what you control, such as ordering, hiring and the menu.
- Show the manager numbers: pour cost, labor percentage, inventory variance and average check, each against a target where you can.
- Keep it to one page unless you manage several outlets, and list your alcohol-service certification and state next to your contact line.
The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

- A food protection manager certification such as ServSafe Food Protection Manager is useful where the bar serves food; name it with the year.

What numbers belong on a bar manager resume?
Use the ones an owner watches: annual sales, pour cost against its target, labor percentage, inventory variance, average check and team size. Give the period for each, such as "pour cost of 19% over 12 months," so the figure reads as a result and not a guess.
How do I move from bartender to bar manager on my resume?
Lead with the management tasks you already did: training new hires, writing the schedule, placing orders, counting inventory or closing out the night. Give each one a number, then add a certification and a short summary that names the bar size you are ready to run.
Should a bar manager list a food safety certification?
Yes, when the bar serves food or the job post names it. List the full name and year, such as ServSafe Food Protection Manager, 2025, beside your alcohol-service certification so the two licenses are easy to find.
