Marketing Resume Examples & Format
Marketing is the work of finding the people a business can serve and getting them to know, trust and buy: research into customers and competitors, positioning and messaging, content, campaigns, email, events and social, and the measurement that shows what worked. A marketing resume should prove skills such as content marketing and copywriting, SEO and keyword research, and email marketing (Mailchimp, HubSpot) with numbers from your own work. Below are three samples, entry-level to senior, with summaries, bullets and skills.

What does a marketing do?
People in marketing may be generalists at a small company, who write, schedule, design and report in the same week, or specialists in one channel at a larger one. A marketing resume therefore has to show the channels you ran, the audience you reached and what it did for the business, not just the tools you know.
Marketing duties to put on a resume
- Research customers, competitors and the market to find who to reach and what to say.
- Plan and run campaigns across email, social, search, content and events.
- Write copy for web pages, emails, ads, social posts and sales material.
- Track results in analytics tools and report leads, conversions and cost to the team.
- Work with sales, product and design to launch products and keep messaging consistent.
- Manage the marketing budget, freelancers and agencies.
Marketing resume format and template
- One page up to about eight years, two for consultants and directors; put results (leads, traffic, revenue) in the first line of each job.
- Name the channels and tools you ran, such as email, SEO and Google Analytics, so the reader can match them to the posting.
- A link to a portfolio or writing samples is worth more than a list of tools; place it in the contact line.
The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

What should an entry-level marketing resume include?
Education, internships with a result for each, campus or volunteer campaigns, and the tools you can use, such as Google Analytics, Mailchimp and Canva. Put a link to writing samples or a small campaign you ran if you have no paid experience.
How do I show results on a marketing resume?
Give the number and the time frame: email subscribers gained, organic traffic growth, cost per lead or leads produced. If you do not have the exact figure, give the scale of the work, such as posts published a month or the size of the list you managed.
What is different about a content marketing resume?
It leads with the content you produced and what it did, such as posts published, organic traffic growth, newsletter size and leads. It also links to samples, since a reader can judge the writing in two minutes and will want to.
