Resume skills by job

Pick your job to see the skills in a resume that its adverts screen for, grouped by type, each with an example bullet.

By type: soft, interpersonal, technical

Every job asks for these in its own words. Each page has a list, examples and how to prove them: soft skills, interpersonal skills and technical skills.

What each job page gives you

There are 31 job pages above. Each one lists the skills that job's adverts screen for, grouped by type of work, so you can see which ones to put first. Every skill comes with a short note on what it means in that job and an example resume bullet you can adapt with your own numbers. Where an official job profile exists, the page also shows what it lists for the role, and most pages end with the questions people ask about that job's skills.

How to add skills to a resume

  1. Read the advert first: copy what it asks for, in its exact words, into a list.
  2. One section: 8 to 12 of them, the hard ones first, grouped if the list is long.
  3. Prove them in your bullets: each key one should appear in at least one experience bullet with a number.
  4. Summary: name your two strongest in the first line.
  5. Check the match: run the resume and the advert through the free ATS checker before you apply.
