What does a recruiter do?
The work covers understanding the hiring manager's need, sourcing on LinkedIn and job boards, phone screens, scheduling interviews, negotiating offers and tracking candidates through an applicant tracking system until they start. Your resume should show sourcing skill, hires closed, time-to-fill, the ATS you use and whether you handle high-volume or niche hiring.
Best resume format for a recruiter
- Show hires per month, time-to-fill and offer-acceptance rate near the top.
- Name the roles you hire (software engineers, nurses, high-volume warehouse) so the reader sees your niche.
- Use a clean one-column format; your resume is read by people who screen resumes all day.
The section order and what goes in each are on the how to write a resume guide; the resume format guide covers every format by type and country.

Education and certifications
- A bachelor's in human resources, business, psychology or communications is a common route. Write the degree, school and year.
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP or aPHR, or sourcing courses: list with the year.
- Name the ATS and sourcing tools you are trained on (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, LinkedIn Recruiter).
What skills should a recruiter list?
Full-cycle recruiting, Boolean search, LinkedIn and job board sourcing, phone screens, intake meetings with hiring managers, ATS use, offer negotiation and reporting. Back them with numbers: hires closed, time-to-fill, offer-acceptance rate and roles you specialize in.
Is a technical recruiter's resume different?
Yes. Name the technologies you hire for, such as Java, cloud or QA, and show how well you screen for them, for example the share of submitted candidates who reach a final interview. A short list of stacks you understand helps hiring managers trust your screens.
Should I mention targets and hires closed?
Yes. Hires per month or year with the role type is the clearest proof of a recruiter's work. Add the time-to-fill and offer-acceptance rate beside it, and say whether you worked agency side or in-house.
What is different about a recruiting coordinator or recruitment coordinator resume?
A recruiting coordinator resume shows scheduling volume, interviews coordinated a month, applicant tracking tools and candidate experience scores. A recruiter resume adds requisitions filled, time to fill and sourcing channels. A recruiting resume for agency work shows placements and revenue. Use the title in the posting.
